The plot
Henry Higgins, an self-important, irascible prof of phonetics, finds an impoverished young woman, Elizthe Doolittle, marketing flowers, & boasting to a recently acquaintance, Colonel Pickering, that he could train her to speak then "properly" that he may pass her dispatch as a duchess. Eliza finds her way to the prof's home & offers to pay the prof to give her elocution lessons and then that she could make their way a better job.
